Texas Landowner's Council

GET INVOLVED

You don't have to live in Austin to Get Involved with TLC

Host or attend a meeting in your area

So far in 2008, TLC has held meetings in Falfurrias and McAllen and organized the first Texas Land & Water Conference in Boerne. We discuss this organization in detail and hope to learn more about the individual needs of landowners in different regions of Texas. If you would be interested in hosting or attending a meeting in your area, please let us know!

Host or attend the annual TLC fundraiser dinner
Each year, TLC organizes a dinner that brings members together to become better acquainted and discuss current property rights issues. We provide an update on the current activities, past accomplishments, and future goals of the organization. Past dinners have been held in the Austin area at local restaurants and on members’ ranches. Please let us know if you are interested in attending this event or would like to host it on your property.

Write or call your state representative
Fifteen years at the Texas Legislature have shown us that we do not have to be the majority to succeed there. Each and every phone call or letter that landowners send to representatives can make a significant difference in the outcome of a bill.

Testify at the Legislature
Since TLC was founded in 1990, TLC President Jimmy Gaines has testified in each session on behalf of this organization. However, it is extremely important that other landowners testify in person regarding bills that affect property rights. Each session, we ask landowners to tell their personal stories to the Legislature. Learning how specific regulations and ordinances affect Texas families makes a huge impact on the representatives. If you are interested in traveling to Austin to testify on a bill at the legislature, please let us know!
